October 19

Nice parhelion right of the Sun this afternoon while out riding my bicycle.  The other half of the parhelic 22° arc was missing in action.

October 17

Venus is continuing to move eastward along the ecliptic and has now almost reached it in terms of ecliptic latitude.

October 11

The old crescent Moon joins Venus in the morning sky in Leo, three days before its rendezvous with the Sun for the annular eclipse.

October 5

Jupiter and Uranus are both in Aries for 2023, so here we catch them just after midnight EDT on the 5th of October, with the waning gibbous Moon hidden in the trees lower down.  This is my first attempt with the new 20mm Nikkor lens I bought recently; I think it does a great job controlling the distortion in the corners!

October 3

Saturn and Neptune are strung out along the watery part of the ecliptic, stretching from nearly the eastern edge of Capricornus to just over the Aquarius border in the fishes, Pisces.
