July 10 While on a trip to Big Bend National Park to observe Herschel 400ii objects, I got a picture of Venus and Mars in the evening twilight from the bowl of the Chisos Basin, looking west toward the "window". From a latitude of 29° north, the planets were noticeabley higher than they would be at home in Virginia. This Venus apparition is a reprise of its 2013 apparition, that of 2005, and 1997. |
