Orion rides high in the sky at midnight every December 31 as we turn to the new year, and here I captured it with my modified Canon 5D camera to record the reddish nebulosity.  The reddish halos around Rigel and Betelgeuse are not real, just the result of overzealous processing LOL!  Although I didn't mark it, Barnard's Loop shows up fairly well, especially to the left of M78.  Unannotated image, Back to Constellations.

Hover over the above thumbnail to see the original unprocessed image.  Most of the red nebulosity can be detected on the original, albeit faintly.  The process of emphasizing it also brings red halos around stars in the middle.
