Mars is now beginning the week of best visibility in its current opposition
season. It is already at its biggest, will be nearest to Earth in the
following day or two, and will then come to opposition on December 8, a bit
more than a week from now. Its peak brightness will come at opposition
owing to the reflected sunlight striking and reflecting off Mars' surface at
the most nadir angle.
