Venus and Jupiter, January 2019

Venus passed Jupiter for a nice conjunction in January, 2019, high up in a dark sky in the morning, however as is usually the case for a high, well-placed conjunction between these two planets, it was relatively far apart owing to Venus' great displacement off of the ecliptic.

Venus still to the west of Jupiter along the ecliptic, getting ready to pass well to the north of Jupiter later in the month.
In the evening, Mars is still high and moving quickly through Pisces, not far from where it will be at opposition in October 2020.  Barely visible at the extreme upper left is Uranus, and although it barely registered on the raw image, the processed jpg washed out the faint dot of Neptune.
