Major Planets, August 30, 2019

Jupiter and Saturn have spent 2019 book-ending the summer Milky Way, with Jupiter in Scorpius and Saturn in Sagittarius, framing the star clouds in between.  These pictures were taken on the same night as the two pictures of asteroids below, except after midnight LOL.

Minor Planets, August 29, 2019

Three asteroids were visible in the summer of 2019 that are not commonly observered, but only two were bright enough for me to catch on this image of Capricornus and western Aquarius.  Laetitia and Psyche were near opposition around this time.  The two images differ only in the amount of annotation.

Jupiter and Saturn, August 2019

Jupiter and Saturn the next night, August 26, under slightly better skies.

Jupiter and Saturn came to opposition only about a month apart, on opposite sides of the Milky Way.  The opportunities are rare to get pics of the summer constellations from central Virginia owing to the haze and humidity.
