drifting clouds then clear, humid, 4-day Moon
  NGC 4608 was fairly easy to locate since it is nicely placed close to the group of three stars marking the eastern end of the Messier galaxy chain in Virgo, just to the south of M60 and M59.  I did not need averted vision to see this galaxy, even amidst some clouds I could see it.  It must therefore have a fairly high surface brightness, compared to the previous two galaxies that I observed.
