The region of south central Monoceros, just north of Sirius in Canis Major, is chock full of open clusters and also includes the large emission nebula called the Seagull Nebula based on its shape.  The official designation of this object is IC 2177.  This image faintly records the outlines of the Seagull but we capture all of the open clusters here with relative ease.  Unannotated image.

The original image was reprocessed to bring out more of the detail and extent of IC2177 and to produce a more natural looking tone. The bottom image is labeled and its bright- ness decreased in order to make the labels more readable.
