Here we are looking at the main central portion of Eridanus, centered on the stars Omicron, Gamma and Delta, which create the V-shaped bend in the river, not dissimilar to the Rio Grande in Big Bend National Park! This view excludes the extreme northeastern part of the constellation where Beta resides, and covers down to the northeastern corner of Fornax. Our view here is already well into the night because as can be seen from the constellation boundaries, this part of the sky is tilting over to the west. Unannotated image. |
