Here, we are looking at the area of northeast Canis Major, northwest Puppis, and southeast Monoceros.  The focus is on the two spectacular open clusters M46 and M47, but there are a host of other interesting open clusters in the surrounding area, including Melotte 71, which shows up very clearly on the image, and therefore makes me wonder how it could have missed being included in the NGC catalog.  NGC 2423 is a very nice object that would be better known if it weren't in the shadow of its two bigger neighbor!  Unannotated image.
