Here we are looking in the direction of southern Perseus, focused on the showy open cluster NGC 1342. This object is sometimes called the little scorpion because of its resemblance to the outline of that constellation. It is also referred to sometimes as the Stingray Cluster. Whatever moniker you elect to use for it, it makes an excellent target for large binoculars or small telescopes. My image cuts off the California Nebula from the left edge of the frame, so without that, there are no other visible deep sky objects visible on this image. Unannotated image. |
