A very bright and large galaxy, M106, is located in northwestern Canes Venatici near the border with Ursa Major. In this 400 mm view, we see M106 sur-rounded by several fainter galaxies that are included on the Herschel 400i and 400ii lists. NGC 4346 is a H400i object, while NGC 4217, 4220, and 4248 are H400ii objects. From the image, it appears that NGC 4389 and NGC 4460 should be easily observable galaxies with a medium-sized telescope. This 400 mm view begins to show the distorted spiral arms so symptomatic of this galaxy. Unannotated view. |
