I must have gone up to the mountains this night because the picture shows a very clear and low horizon to the south, and I took advantage to get my best image of the southern constellation Grus, along with the surrounding fall constellations.  This area of the sky is dominated by the lone 1st magnitude star for a very wide area, Fomalhaut.  Fomalhaut is the 18th brightest star in the sky, shining at magnitude +1.16, just dimmer than Pollux but brighter than Deneb.  Unannotated image, Back

The brightest star in Grus, is alpha Gruis and known by its official name of Al Na'ir.  It shines at magnitude +1.7, making it one of the few stars with magnitude brighter than 2.0; it is ranked as the 30th or 31st bright- est star in the night sky, depending on how one characterizes stars given that some are quite variable.
