Comet 17P/Holmes was in the inner solar system in October 2007 when it underwent a tremendous outburst, making it a plainly naked-eye object for weeks.  It slowly expanded and dimmed as it arced through central Perseus.  This picture was taken on November 9th and shows the comet still with a relatively small coma and high surface brightness, moving slowly toward the alpha Persei association.  Numerous objects in this part of the Milky Way are annotated.  Unannotated image
