In August 2003, Mars came to its best opposition in many thousands of years, arriving
at that point in southern Aquarius only one day removed from its perihelion point.
I don't know why I didn't take a picture of it on that date, or maybe I did and lost it,
but the only surviving one I have is from September 23, three and half weeks after the
opposition. Here, Uranus can also be seen in the picture above Mars. Mars is
still magnitude -2.35, while Uranus is +5.73.
