Venus has just passed Jupiter on its way down to meet the Sun at its inferior
conjunction, but they still make a spectacular pairing to the left of the head
of Scorpius. On this morning, Venus is magnitude -4.38 while Jupiter is
at magnitude -1.88 with a separation of 6°17'45" between them.
I'm not sure where I was when I took this picture ~ the flat eastern horizon
suggests that I might have been out in Colorado doing something at the University
or maybe I just found a very flat horizon somewhere here in Virginia for that,
for example out on Route 3 east of Fredericksburg.
