Venus is reprising the excellent evening apparition that it had in 1984/1985 with the conclusion now of its 1992/1993 apparition.  This view shows Venus high in the west in Pisces against the backdrop of the Front Range west of Boulder, Colorado.  On this date, Venus was magnitude -4.59.  I missed an opportunity here to photograph Mercury with Venus because the innermost planet is just below the ridgeline in a line made by the label "Aquarius", 15° from the Sun.  During these kinds of apparitions, Venus swings well north of the ecliptic during its retrograde loop, so at the time of this photograph, she is already over 3° north of that lineUnannotated image, Back
