Mercury has been visible in the evening sky for about a week, but not visible from central Virginia owing to a week of clouds and much needed rain.  Although it does not reach greatest elongation until June 15, it will decrease gradually in brightness between now and then, so its visibility won't change substantially.  On this evening, Mercury shines at magnitude -0.80 and is 16°19'45" from the Sun.  Unannotated image, Wider view showing all three planets.
