May 19th offered skywatchers a very pretty gathering of Venus, the Moon, and Jupiter in the evening sky, and we had decent weather here in central Vir-ginia to observe it.  Yesterday evening, the Moon was next to Venus, so we see here that it has moved more than half the distance between the two planets in the course of one day.  Venus is magnitude -3.96 and Jupiter is -1.97 on this date; their separation is 20°42'11".  Unannotated image.
