Venus and Uranus are in conjunction this evening, from the standpoint of ecliptic coordinates, and also at their closest point to the Pleiades, M45. On this evening, Venus shines at magnitude -3.94 while Uranus is of course much fainter at +5.80, and they are separated by only 45' 10". This passage of Venus by the Pleiades is much farther away than some others because in other instances, Venus is closer to Earth and in a part of its orbit that carries it well north of the ecliptic.
