The Sun is still near solar maximum and consequently remains quite active in terms of sunspots, flares, and CME's.  Although the Sun's surface has been reltively quiescent recently, a massive group of sunspots, first observed by spacecraft on Mars several days ago, has emerged on the Sun's western limb.  It will be very interesting to follow its progress over the next two weeks.  Unannotated image.
