| From the west shore of Lake George in Bolton Landing, New York, we enjoyed a great view of Venus and Jupiter rising in central Gemini, still only 4 days after their conjunction on the 12th. Venus is magnitude -3.97 while Jupiter is at magnitude -1.97, with 4°05'52" separating them. The last quarter Moon illuminated the landscape and brightened the sky. Unfortunately we did not wait long enough for Mercury to rise over the island that is home to the Sagamore Resort, so we missed our chance to get three planets in one picture :( |
