Uranus will spend its apparition from June 2025 until May 2026 in the western part of Taurus, moving back and forth along the ecliptic below the Pleiades. During this early stage of its apparition, while seen in the east before sunrise, that means it will be to the lower right of the famous cluster. It shines at magnitude +5.76 today, and is located just to the south of the ecliptic plane. Each year, it climbs slightly further north until in 2029 it will cross the ecliptic, in eastern Taurus. We notice that Jupiter exhibits almost the exact same pattern, which tells us that the nodes of Jupiter's and Uranus' orbits are very closely aligned. Unannotated image. |
