Mars continues to race eastward along the ecliptic as it attempts to keep ahead of the Earth in their race around the Sun, which of course it will lose.  Here we see Mars well to the upper left of Regulus, shining at magnitude +1.51, which is dimmer than Regulus by a slight amount.  Unannotated image.
