Mars continues to race eastward against the starry background as it struggles to stay ahead of the Earth's movement; we missed the closest conjunction of Mars and Regulus due to rain and clouds several days ago, but now we still see the two fairly close in the southwest.  Mars is magnitude +1.42, with a separation of 1°03'17" between Mars and Regulus.  Unannotated image.
