Venus was spending her last day in Libra when last we checked in on her, the 31st of December, and now, five days later, she has moved through Scorpius to enter Ophiuchus.   In the constellation of the serpent bearer, she is joined by Mercury farther down toward the horizon.  Venus is magnitude -4.05 while Mercury shines at +0.04 magnitude, although in coming days he will brighten considerably.  They are still 14°55'10" apart this morning.
