Vesta was at opposition back on December 22, 2023, in the far eastern part of Taurus, near the Gemini border, and now it is continuing to slowly retrograde toward the southern horn of Taurus, denoted by the star ζ Tauri.  In about 11 days, it should pass just south of M1, the Crab Nebula.
