Jupiter and Uranus are already in retrograde motion as they head toward their early November oppositions (November 3 for Jupiter, November 13 for Uranus).  On this morning (just after midnight on the 16th), Jupiter is magnitude -2.75 and 45.9" in diameter, while Uranus is at magnitude +5.68 and 3.67" in diameter.  They are 7°39'19" apart.  Although we have not yet reached the point at which they are in conjunction, the last time they were in a position of near-simultaneous opposition was in 2010 in Pisces.  In one image, I am highlighting the green colors of Uranus, which are almost unique in the heavens, and the reddish color of Mira, which is still declining from its maximum in June 2023 (almost unobservable because of its proximity to the Sun then).
