This is the first picture I took on which I recorded Comet C/2021 A1 (Leonard), in this case to the lower left of Venus. In this case it is located to the left of the Terebellum asterism of four stars in southeastern Sagittarius, very close to the border with Microscopium. I would judge its magnitude to be less than the dimmest Terebellum star, which would make it fainter than magnitude +4.84. According to my planetarium software, today is the day that Venus is stationary, meaning that starting tomorrow it begins retrograding back toward inferior conjunction. Unannotated image |
