Mars came to opposition in September 2020 in the constellation Pisces, and as such it was much larger and brighter than average at its oppositions.  It also was much higher in the sky than at its 2018 opposition in Capricornus, resulting in greater altitude and more time in the sky each night.  At this point, on the 19th, it has just initiated retrograde motion and as can be seen, is well below the ecliptic.  Mars is magnitude -2.27 and subtends 21.54" in diameter.  Unannotated image.
