This conjunction of Venus and Jupiter is a relatively close one, because both planets have a very similar latitude above the ecliptic.  Note that they
have both just crossed into Leo from Cancer, heading for Regulus, which Venus will pass soon, but which Jupiter will only pass on August 10, technically
still in the evening sky but so close to the Sun that it will effectively be unobservable.  This conjunction mimics one of June 17, 1991, as shown in
this image by Alan Dyer.
