Venus and Jupiter underwent a very close conjunction on August 17, 2014, but I was
unfortunately not able to catch them on that date, so this view is four days later
when they had already separated to 3°51'45" instead of the extremely close 16'
26" at closest approach on the 17th. This conjunction mirrors one that
occurred 24 years earlier, in August of 1990, when I was stationed at Fort Bragg,
North Carolina and could not see anything because of the horrible murk blanketing
the Fayetteville area all summer there LOL. Even though you can't see it on
my image, Jupiter is just outside of the Beehive Cluster, M44.
