In February 2024, we had a nice view of the southern spring Milky Way from Cedar Key, Florida. This morning, before Venus and Mars rose in the east, I caught a portion of the sky not visible to us in Virginia. The region of southern Scorpius, Norma, and Ara is generally out of view for us, so it's interesting to see the Table of Scorpius area high enough in the sky for easy viewing. The rich cluster NGC 6231 is especially noteworthy. Unfortunately, the cloudy looking parts of the sky in Sagittarius are actual clouds, not the Milky Way star clouds LOL. |
