In February 2024, we had a nice view of the southern spring Milky Way from Cedar Key, Florida.  The sprawling constellation of Centaurus contains two spectacular objects for small telescopes, namely ω Centauri and NGC 5128.  My 3 second exposure wasn't able to record much of NGC 5128, but we can see ω quite well even with just an 86 mm lens.  This image is through light from a 10-day old Moon, so we would not expect the galaxy to show very well.
