The Milky Way "off ramp" in the Hercules - Ophiuchus area leads to a nice grouping of large, splashy open clusters, none of which were included in the catalog put together by Charles Messier for some reason. They make great targets for binoculars or low power telescopes. The easternmost one, IC 4756, is particular rich and a great sight in a telescope. Unannotated image, Back |
