I had a memorable trip to southern Texas in August 1993 ~ I didn't go to Big Bend National Park, but rather drove down to South Padre Island in an attempt to do some astronomy, but decided that wasn't suitable for some reason.  I drove back up and stopped at a point near Carrizo Springs to take pictures.  It was quite dark where I was except for some kind of bright light source due south which affected some of the shots.  Whatever slide film I was using at the time had a rather severe purple tint to it.  The fourth through sixth links to the right of the image yield color adjusted versions of the original to try to compensate for the purplish tone.  Carrizo Springs is at latitude 28°30' which is further south than any place in Big Bend.  Back
