Venus in 2010 treated northern hemisphere observers to one of its evening shows that spanned January all the way to October, when it underwent inferior conjunction (literally underwent, since it passed as far south of the Sun as it can). It was high in the sky during the spring but lowered toward the horizon during the summer even though it gained in elongation. Here we see her moving south of Castor and Pollux toward Cancer at magnitude -3.98 and still only 13.38" across. |
