In the fall of 1994, Venus went through inferior conjunction in the Libra direction, almost exactly as it did in 1986, which I observed from Grafenwöhr, Germany. On this Tuesday morning in late November I was able to get this picture from probably somewhere in King George County on the way to work. Here, Venus is near its greatest brilliancy, being only about three weeks past its passing between the Sun and Earth. This chart of its orbital track also shows that Mercury was in the scene only a week before. This pattern for Venus will repeat in 2002, 2010, and 2018. |
