Jupiter and Uranus are both in Taurus as winter approaches, with each of them retrograding west-ward. On this cold night, Jupiter shines at mag-nitude -2.81, while Uranus glows feebly at +5.61.  Uranus was at opposition on November 16, whereas Jupiter will not reach opposition until December 7. It's interesting to note that even on this short exposure of only 20 seconds, one can see the out-line of the dark clouds obscuring this portion of the Milky Way ~ they can be seen below Jupiter, to its left, and trailing off diagonally to the upper right (where the label Taurus appears in the last image).

This image was shot using a Nikon D600 along with 50mm f/1.8 Series E pancake lens set to f/4, and a 20 second exposure.  Love the star pattern of the seven-vaned diaphragm!
