Venus and the Moon joined for a very nice conjunction low in the west on this fine evening, one of the first we've had in about three weeks. Note the binocular double star α Librae, otherwise known as Zubenelgenubi, to the upper right of Venus. On this date, Venus is magnitude -3.95. Compare this scene to the one eight years ago, on October 3, 2016 and note where Venus was with respect to α Librae and how much farther north the Moon was. |
