The first place I set up to attempt to see Comet Tsuchinshan-ATLAS was right on the beach in Kill Devil Hills, NC.  It was pretty dark, but so incredibly windy that I thought I could see the camera shaking during the exposures (which was not the case).  I also seemed to me that there was fog or a layer of clouds or haze over the water, which I thought would impair my view of the horizon.  As can be seen from the image, however, the view seems fairly clear all the way down to the horizon.  I decided to pack up and drive back to the mainland and take my chances where I thought there would not be any ground fog.
