Jupiter and Saturn continue to move eastward from their summer opposition
points in Sagittarius toward
their end-of-year conjunction. On this evening, the two planets
were 19' apart and for the first time noticeably at slightly different
ecliptic declinations. They are now both just
barely in Capricornus, with Jupiter still almost on the border. I
would not be surprised if some of the Galilean moons were in Capricornus,
while others were still in Sagittarius!
