Jupiter/Saturn/Mars, June 2020

Back to the morning planets:  Saturn and Jupiter remain close in western Capricornus and eastern Sagittarius as of June 1, 2020, as these two views (moderately zoomed in and wide angle) show.  They have been retrograding since about May 14, so Jupiter is beginning to slowly pull away from Saturn in advance of their oppositions in July.  Note that in comparison to their positions in March, both have dipped slightly south of the ecliptic.

Farther east, in fact almost 42° east of Saturn, is Mars, well below the ecliptic in central Aquarius, still traveling prograde for several more months.  Note that in the image you can also see Neptune, a tiny aqua colored dot.  Mars will overtake Neptune in ecliptic longitude on or about June 12.
