We were treated to a fine planetary gathering in late 2019, in this case showing Venus and Jupiter just past their conjunction in western Sagittarius along with Saturn to their upper left in the eastern part of that constellation. The conjunction was the previous day, but today their setting times are the same because they have the same elevation above the horizon. This conjunction of Venus and Jupiter is similar to one that occurred on November 19, 1995. This evening, Venus is magnitude -3.93, Jupiter is -1.87, and Saturn is +0.60. Unannotated image |
